Electric Shock Drowning
Electric shock drowning is a very real danger that occurs when an electric current from faulty wiring on docks or boats leaks into bodies of fresh water. Victims experience electrocution and often drown. Keep yourself and your family safe and avoid tragic accidents by making sure the docks and boats you use have the required electrical protection in place.
According to the Electric Shock Drowning Prevention Association, Electric Shock Drowning (ESD) can occur when a low level electrical current passes through a swimmer, causing muscular paralysis and eventual drowning. While ESD can occur virtually in any location where electricity is near water, the majority of deaths nationally have occurred in public and private marinas and docks.
