City of Tuscaloosa Wins Distinguished Budget Presentation Award

The City of Tuscaloosa’s Accounting and Finance Department has been awarded the Distinguished Budget Award from the Government Finance Officers Association for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2025.
This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting, reflecting the commitment of the governing body and staff to meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.
To qualify for the award, the City of Tuscaloosa had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation to assess how well the budget serves as: a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.
The City of Tuscaloosa last received this award in 2025 for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2024. This is the sixth consecutive year the City of Tuscaloosa has won this award, receiving it every year since 2020.
